The era of the Brexitpreneur
It seemed unlikely, it seemed impossible… yet here we are.
On the 23rd June 2016, the UK voted to leave the EU and now the business community has to power through and make the best of what was commonly considered a bad situation for business and the economy.
I voted to remain and I was undeniably shocked when I heard the result.
When I began my current business I considered the 6 years until 2020 my empire building years and a rocky uncertain economy was the last thing I wanted.
It has however happened.
The UK public has spoken and like any period of change, there will be winners and there will be losers.
It is the purpose of this book to guide UK entrepreneurs through the pro’s and the cons of Brexit and to give a clear methodology for taking the bull by the horns and succeeding in this era of uncertainty.
When setting out to write this book, I researched into the definition of Entrepreneurship, which is a French originated word, coined by the economist Jean-Baptiste, I discovered it has the following meaning:
‘taking charge of your own business’.
It is perhaps appropriate that the ‘take charge’ definition falls in line with some of the main headlines from the ‘Leave’ campaign during the vote.
It was therefore fitting when I started writing this book that I coin a new phrase for this new era and so the word ‘Brexitpreneurship’ was born.
Brexitpreneurship the definition…
Brexitpreneurship: The art of organising and managing an enterprise throughout the UK’s exit from the EU and beyond.
The modern Brexitpreneurs will be the business leaders who steady our unsteady ship and put the Great back in front of Britain once more.
We have seen but also overcome uncertain seas before.
I started my business in 2007, just in time for the biggest global recession ever recorded. I had ups and downs, but I ultimately won and now like many other businesses owners, I am steadying myself and my businesses for this next adventure into the unknown.
Only the strongest will survive, only the businesses with the right plan and who understand that the old way is in fact just that ‘old’.
The dawn of the Brexitpreneur is born and it is very exciting.
Taken from the first chapter of bestselling author, Richard Woods’ new book ‘Brexitpreneurship’ due to publish in February 2017.
